Warhol’s Wife Stretched Canvases

Warhol’s Wife canvases are solid. They feature a thick, sturdy frame that is very rarely out of square. If you were to pick up a one-metre square canvas in the Warhol’s Wife brand and a one-meter square in another, you would instantly feel the weight differences between the two brands. We have never had one brought back to our store. In itself, that says a lot. 

A blank canvas speaks of creativity. You can draw on a canvas with pastels and pencils, paint it with water- and solvent-based paints, and use it to make a sculptural piece, think paper machë and plaster bandage.

Warhol’s Wife canvases have a cotton weight of 10 oz. The canvas is 100% unbleached cotton and stretched over a thick timber pine frame with a 38mm – 3.8 cm edge. The kiln-dried timber, thickness and extra bracing in the Warhol’s Wife canvases give the pre-stretched canvas added stability.  

The Warhol’s Wife cotton canvas is coated with three layers of titanium white gesso. This primer creates an excellent barrier to work on. Using artist-quality pigments, you do not need to worry about paint wastage. The paints will stay vibrant, blend and dry seamlessly on the well-primed surface.

Tip

A well-primed, gessoed canvas will give the artist a smoother surface and allow your brush to flow much better. Poorly primed canvases draw the fluidity out of your paint. The colour tends to sink into the canvas and gets trapped between the cotton fibres. As a result, you use more paint and will most likely get dull patches on the surface.

The Warhol’s Wife cotton canvases feature a smooth weave making them suitable for fine feathering and blending. The acid-free surface is made from 100% unbleached cotton and will not become yellow with age. 

Paint colours will grip the canvas surface and stay in place.

The canvas range features a staple-free back and edges. This canvas has been gallery wrapped to perfection, meaning no staples or pins are visible. Staples are not visible when the canvas is hung or when you look at the back of the canvas. If you like to paint the sides of your canvas, you can do this flawlessly. 

Framing your Warhol’s Wife canvases 

If you want to frame your canvas in a frame, the Titian canvases can easily be float framed, or you can have the frame directly pushed up against the sides. You can hang a stretched Warhol’s Wife cotton canvas straight onto a wall without framing. Screw some D hooks and use some soft nylon string, and you are ready.
