Titian Cotton Stretched Canvases

The thickness of the canvas and the kiln-dried timber gives the pre-stretched canvas added stability and allows it to be used for various projects. 

Furthermore, the cotton in this Titian canvas range is coated with three layers of titanium white gesso. This primer creates an excellent barrier to work on. By using artist-quality pigments, you do not need to worry about wasting your paints. The paints will blend and sit beautifully on the primed surface. 

Hot Tip

A well-primed, gessoed canvas will give the artist a smoother surface and allow your brush to flow much better. Conversely, poorly primed canvases draw the fluidity out of your paint. The colour tends to sink into the canvas and gets trapped between the cotton fibres and as a result you use more paint, and dull patches generally form on the surface. 

Moving on, the Titian cotton canvas features a relatively standard medium weave. You might encounter a few bumps across the canvas here and there while working. 

Framing your 48×78″ artist canvases

When it comes to framing your 48×78″ Artist Canvases, the Titian canvas range features staple-free edges. As a matter of fact, staples are not visible when the canvas is hung. You can hang a stretched Titian cotton canvas directly onto a wall without framing. Simply screw some D hooks and use some soft nylon string, and you are done. If you want to frame your canvas in a frame, the Titian canvases can easily be float framed, or you can have the frame directly pushed up against the sides.
