This Titian range has been gessoed with a triple-primed transparent gesso. The beauty of these canvases is that you can see and work on the natural colour and warm tones of what looks like raw linen.
The transparent gesso is acid-free and non-yellowing and is applied to create a barrier between the raw linen and the paint or mediums the artist works with. If you are working with artist pigments, there is no need to worry that your paints or mediums will be drawn into the fabric or dull. They will sit beautifully on top of the primed surface. The linen on this canvas brand is primed so well that your brush or drawing media will glide across the surface.
Many artists choose to cover only some of the surface of a linen canvas with media. It is popular for artists to have parts of the linen revealed. The particulars of a Titian transparent primed canvas
Titian linen transparent primed canvases have a quality you can feel straight away. These canvases are solid. They have a thick, sturdy frame with 58 mm – 5.8 cm corner braces. The Belgium linen weighs 12 oz – 450 gsm and is stretched over a pine timber frame with a 38mm – 3.8 cm edge. The kiln-dried timber and extra bracing in the Titian range give the pre-stretched canvas immense strength that is rarely out of square.
You can hang this range of canvases directly on your wall. You will need to screw in some D hooks and have some nylon string ready to go.
There are no staples on the sides of the canvas. They are all hidden on the back, out of sight; this allows the artist to paint the edges of the canvas and incorporate it into their artwork.
A floating frame works exceptionally well if you want to frame your canvas. You can place other types of frames up tight on the edges of the canvas; this works well if you use a very elaborate ornate frame.
If you want to frame your artwork with glass, it can be heavy, and you might need a stud in the wall to hold its weight. The best way is to pick the linen off the frame and adhere it to a flat masonite or MDF board piece. Place the glass on top and then frame it as usual.
